Upgrade From Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 To Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex

Q. How do I upgrade my desktop computer from Ubuntu hardy heron version 8.04 to Ubuntu Linux 8.10 Intrepid Ibex?

A. You can easily upgrade over the network with the following procedure.

Make sure normal upgrades are available

Visit System > Administration > Software Sources > Select Updates tab and change "Show new distribution release" to "Normal releases" > Save the change by pressing close button.

Upgrading to Ubuntu 8.10 From Ubuntu 8.04

Visit System -> Administration -> Update Manager
If there are any updates to install, use the Install Updates button to install them
Click the Check button to check for new updates.
A message will appear informing you of the availability of the new release.

Now Click Upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions.
